17 year-old charged with murder of 15 year-old
SEVENTEEN year-old Philbert Campbell of Gutters District in St James who was charged with last month’s murder of 15 year-old Davian Herron, is to return to court next Monday.
Allegations are that on Sunday, July 15, Herron, a student of the Maldon Comprehensive High School and resident of Camrose District in Gutters, went to that community in the company of friends, armed with knives and machetes.
The police said the group went to the area to avenge the wounding of another colleague, reportedly by a man from Gutters.
However, the police said that when they got there at about 8:00 pm “all hell broke loose” when a fight developed between them and the group of men for whom they had gone in search. It was during that altercation that Herron was allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed in the chest by 17 year-old Campbell.
Campbell, also a student of the Maldon Comprehensive High School, was later arrested and charged for the offence. He was granted bail in the sum of $700,000 when he appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court late last month.
