Cocaine seized in Nightingale Grove raid, three arrested
THREE people were arrested Sunday for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at Cedar Drive, Nightingale Grove, Old Harbour, St Catherine.
Charged with possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export and conspiracy to export cocaine are:
* Christopher Barrett, alias “Baba Wayne”, 24, of Cedar Drive, Nightingale Grove, St Catherine;
* Kadian Gordon, 19, unemployed, also of Nightingale Grove; and
* Nicola Hayles, 20, a cosmetologist of Glenwood District, Clarendon.
The police reported that between 11:50 am and 3:00 pm Sunday, an operation was carried out at Cedar Drive when a house occupied by the three was searched. The search, the police said, yielded a small quantity of cocaine, 56 cocaine pellets, a scale and material used for packaging.
All three persons were arrested and charged and are scheduled to appear in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The Narcotics Police who are investigating say that Hayles, who is suspected of ingesting a number of cocaine pellets, has been admitted to hospital.
Annotto Bay man fatally stabbed
A 32 year-old man was stabbed to death Sunday during a dispute with another man at Fort George Road, Annotto Bay, St Mary.
The dead man has been identified as Huggart Lynch, otherwise called “Calabash”, a musician of Love Lane, Annotto Bay, while on the run is Steron Pink, 24, of Portland.
The police reported that at about 5:00 pm, Huggart and Pink were reportedly involved in an argument, during which Pink allegedly used a knife to stab Huggart in the chest and abdomen. He was taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Annotto Bay Police who are investigating are seeking Pink for questioning in connection with Lynch’s death.
Woman shot dead at Poorman’s Corner
ENA Veronica Bennett, a 42 year-old shopkeeper, was shot dead by unknown assailants at Poorman’s Corner, Yallahs, St Thomas Sunday night.
The police said that at about 8:30 pm, Bennett was reportedly at her shop when four men armed with guns entered. Two of the men ordered grocery items and while being served they opened fire hitting her in the face and shoulder. She died on the spot. The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
