Grace, Kennedy is Champion Exporter
Grace, Kennedy Export Trading Company Limited was named the Champion Exporter for 2001 and was presented with the Governor-General’s Cup as National Export Week came to a climax at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston Friday night.
Governor-General Sir Howard Cooke (left) made the presentation to Derrick Reckord, managing director of Grace, Kennedy Export, to sustained applause from the packed ballroom.
Earlier in the week, the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) recognised Grace, Kennedy for surpassing US$21 million in export earnings last year. The company was also given the award for Best Caricom Exporter.
The runner-up to the Champion Exporter was Agriventures Limited, which also won awards for the exporter with the highest tonnage use of the two international airports, and for being the top exporter of agricultural products.
The award for the Model Exporter was presented to the Wray & Nephew Group; SN Kraft won the award for the Best New Exporter, while the Most Improved Exporter award went to Peak Bottling Company Limited.
