MoBay teens facing attempted murder charge
WESTERN BUREAU — The case of the two Montego Bay teenagers facing charges of attempted murder and the malicious destruction of property has been set for a preliminary hearing on August 7.
The hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to warrant the transfer of the case to the St James Circuit Court for trial.
Meanwhile, the accused duo, Orlando Dehaney and Stafford Anderson, both 18, have yet to take up their respective $125,000 and $175,000 bail offers.
But their attorney, Clive Mullings told the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court Monday that efforts were being made to have them released from custody.
It is alleged that on January 29 the two teenagers, who were engaged in a long-standing feud with the female complainant, hit her with a stolen car driven by Anderson as she walked along the Rose Heights main road. As a result the woman incurred multiple injuries including a fractured right hand and foot and lost two teeth and was hospitalised for three weeks.
The following day the boys are alleged to have gone to her house in Rose Heights, where they used machetes to chop up a number of her household furniture.
