Man accused of molesting one-year-old son
WESTERN BUREAU: The case against Anthony Thorpe, a St James man accused of molesting his infant son, could not proceed Wednesday because the child’s mother — who is still living with the accused — was absent from court.
Her presence was vital as her son first reported the incident to her.
Reports are that on December 4 the little boy, who was a year and nine months old at the time, was at home in Norwood with both parents. At approximately 9:30 am he reportedly went to his mother and informed her that his 39 year-old father had inserted a finger into his anus.
As a result the mother is alleged to have taken the child to the doctor where it was confirmed that the child had, in fact, been molested.
She later reported the incident to the police and Thorpe was arrested and charged with indecent assault.
As a result of the child’s mother being absent from the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, the case has been set for mentioned again on March 12.
Until then, Thorpe’s $70,000 bail has been extended.
