Spain held to goalless draw by Cape Verde at World Cup

ATLANTA, United States (AFP) — Debutants Cape Verde produced one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history by holding European champions Spain to a goalless draw on Monday.

Despite overwhelming possession, Spain could not penetrate the resolute Cape Verde defence, leaving the African nation’s fans celebrating wildly in Atlanta.
