Man shot dead on Fairway Ave
KIWANI Burnett, 26, was yesterday shot and killed as he alighted from his dark green F-150 pick-up truck at a business place on Fairway Avenue in Kingston.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Burnett had driven his truck to a business complex at Fairway Avenue in Kingston. As the man alighted from his truck, he was attacked by two gunmen and shot several times. He received wounds to his chest, abdomen, right side, back and right thigh. He died on the spot.
His attackers then fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla motor car bearing registration plate 8006 BG, the CCN reported.
A police source told the Observer that Burnett had reportedly gone to the area to pick up his daughter, who was in the building at the time of the shooting. The dead man’s father was also on the premises at the time of his son’s murder, the source said.
Burnett resided at 13 Kirkwood Way in the Kingston 3 area.
His murder has brought the number of persons slain this year to 167. Of this number, 124 died as a result of gunshot wounds. Up to March 20, last year 230 murders had been committed.
