JAMALCO overtime payment dispute resolved
JAMALCO and the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (UTASP) have reached an agreement on the overtime payment issue, which led to the union serving strike notices on the company on Tuesday night.
The Observer understands that the company has offered to introduce a new system of payment for overtime, which will cover both scheduled and unscheduled work, to which the union has agreed. However, a committee comprised of representatives of both sides will have to meet to work out the details of the agreement.
The agreement, which was brokered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security at about 2:30 am yesterday, staved off a strike by the UTASP-represented supervisory staff at Jamalco.
