Suspected Clansman shot dead by cops
A man who police believe is a member of the Clansman gang was shot dead by police in the Lakes Pen area of Spanish Town yesterday during a raid on an illegal mining operation.
The Constabulary Communication Network confirmed the incident, but could not give details.
However, an Observer source alleged that the cops came under fire during the raid and the man was shot in the exchange.
The Clansman gang is aligned to the ruling People’s National Party and has had frequent street battles with the One Order gang, which supports the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party, for control of a lucrative extortion racket in the historic town.
