Police seek woman they say is key witness to Pink Lane shooting
THE Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) yesterday said it was seeking a woman identified only as ‘Sophia’, who it said is key to investigations into the alleged shoot-out between police and gunmen along Pink Lane, Denham Town on April 17 in which two men were killed.
According to Superintendent Ezra Stewart of the BSI, ‘Sophia’, who also goes by the name ‘Spanish’, was shot and injured during the gun battle and may have vital information relating to the case. She is said to frequent sections of Tivoli Gardens.
Sections of Denham Town erupted in chaos on the afternoon of April 17 after police shot dead two men in an alleged gun battle in the tough inner-city community.
At the time the police said they came under heavy fire after they tried to enter a house in the community. The fire was returned, and two men hit. The police also said they retrieved two guns – a 9mm pistol and an AK47 from the men.
Yesterday, the BSI also urged other persons who may have witnessed the alleged shoot-out to contact them.
