Police said close to making arrest in Pia Phillips case
THE police say they are on the heels of the criminals who had triggered the accidental death of Immaculate Conception High School head girl Pia Phillips.
“The police have launched a manhunt for the criminals in the case of Pia Phillips and we are now getting valuable information which we believe will lead to an arrest anytime soon,” said Altermoth Campbell, the deputy superintendent in charge of crime for the St Andrew North Police Division.
Police report that Phillips, 18, was accidentally shot on November 1 by her father, whose licensed firearm went off when he fell while running to the assistance of his daughter who was attacked by two armed men at their Havendale home.
She will be laid to rest Saturday after a funeral service at the St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Kingston.
