WPYC meet Poolside today

Westmoreland Police Youth Club (WPYC) and Poolside FC will meet in this afternoon’s Captain’s Bakery Westmoreland Football Association’s end of second round final at the Frome Sports Complex, starting at 3:30 pm.
WPYC edged Roaring River 1-0 in their finals second round Zone B game on Monday to improve to 11 points in the round and confirm their place in the final.
Poolside, who was one of three teams promoted from the Division One at the end of last season, had topped Zone A with 16 of their overall 22 points after five wins and a draw.
The winners will take home $10,000 and the loser will get $5,000.
Both teams showed marked improvements in the second round as WPYC had scored just seven points in the first round and leads the overall Zone b standings as well.
Poolside was statistically the better of the two in the second round with 12 goals scored and just three against, while WPYC scored eight goals while conceding four.
Sassamarley Barrett, who scored the winner for WPYC on Monday, will lead his team’s attack today along with midfielders Everette Rodney and the veteran Hector Linton.
Marlon McGrowder, who played for beaten finalist Russia last season, is the top striker for Poolside and along with Kayon Richards will see to get by the WPYC defence that will be marshalled by Garfield Brown.

The game will be a play to a finish encounter with two periods of extra time and penalties to be used if the scores are tied.
