Petersfield, Paul Island chase last semi spot
PETERSFIELD, Westmoreland
Petersfield will host Paul Island in a race for the fourth semi-final place in the Westmoreland Football Association’s (WFA) Captain’s Bakery Major League today as the preliminary rounds come to a close.
Petersfield is in fourth place on 29 points, two more than Paul Island and needs only a point from a draw to join Russia FC and promoted teams Poolside and Savannah in the top four.
Paul Island, the end-of-first round champions, must win today if they are to snatch the fourth spot and would end up in third place on goal difference over Savannah.
Savannah, the Division One winners last year, snatched the semi-final place on Monday after beating Roaring River 3-0 to move to 30 points, one behind Poolside, the end of second-round champions.
In other games scheduled for this afternoon, Poolside will host Mt Grace at Bay Road Sports Complex while Uprising and Perry Strikers will also meet.
