What’s your favourite song for Christmas?

Richie Stephens — Give Love on Christmas Day

There is a line in it that says “it is the time of year when the world is sincere”, and as a child growing up I always wish every day was like that, with people showing love to each other right throughout the year; what a wonderful world it would be.

Christmas is a special time of year and one of the things that makes the season memorable are the songs, whether they are traditional Christmas songs or contemporary ones. Entertainment personalities pause for a moment to talk about their favourite song for Christmas.

Duane Stephenson — Oh Holy Night

The mood of this carol really embodies the real meaning of Christmas. It is so powerful and I have never heard anyone do a bad version. I have listened the various interpretations of this one, including Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey, and love them all.

Alborosie — Jingle Bells

This is the Christmas carol for everybody. No matter how old or how young you are. Jingle Bells always brings a smile to your heart.

George Nooks — Oh Holy Night

I like this song because it reminds me of the days when I used to attend Baptist church. Besides that, there’s a certain feeling I get about Christmas when I hear it.

I.eye — Silent Night

I used to enjoy singing this song in church as a child. This is the carol that signalled the start of Christmas which was the time of year we always looked forward to.

Alaine — Grown Up Christmas List

I really love this Christmas song penned by David Foster and performed by Natalie Cole. It is such a real song which speaks to what the world really needs at this time — love. When you are young Christmas is all about the magic and wonder, but as an adult you realise there are so many issues. For me the track speaks to some very relevant issues affecting the world at this time and season.

Khago — Give Love On Christmas Day

This song always makes me reflect, because the words are powerful and it is melodious. As it says, “no greater gift is there than love”, but I only wish that people would show each other that same amount of love every day, not just at Christmastime.

Clifton ‘Specialist’ Dillon — Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

I like anything Nat King Cole sings, he has such a great voice. There is something about the way he sings this Christmas song… it just gives you a warm feeling.

Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor — Joy To The World

What’s not to like about this one. It’s a song about the greatest gift ever given. Listening to it gives me such a warm feeling.

Lady G — Feliz Navidad

The words of this song really gets to me, and the blend of English and Spanish, I really like it.

Linval Gibbons — Oh Holy Night

It reminds me of when I was young and living in England. I sang it at Trafalgar Square with the school choir and since then it has been a favourite of mine.

Nikeisha Barnes — Oh Holy Night

It reminds me of when I was small and sitting on my verandah in Jungle, just getting ourselves together for Christmas.
