BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Young batsmen Kjorn Ottley, Nkrumah Bonner and Raymon Reifer stroked hundreds as the Omar Phillips XI assumed a dominant position against Simon Jackson’s XI in a Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) practice match for the upcoming West Indies first-class season.

The trio’s heavy scoring allowed Phillips’ side to compile 506 for six declared on Monday’s second day and leg-spinner Bonner advertised his all-round skills by capturing three wickets to leave Jackson’s XI in strife at stumps on 164 for five in reply.

Teenager Reifer and the 20-year-olds Ottley and Bonner played well for the centuries while pressing for places on the squad for the opening round in Jamaica from January 8-11.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Ottley smashed 130 not out with 18 fours and one six, while Jamaica’s Bonner, a former West Indies Under-19 player, stroked seven fours and two sixes in his 108.

Reifer gathered 102 with 11 fours and one six.

Jamaican wicketkeeper/batsman Chadwick Walton, who made his Test debut against Bangladesh in July, scored 58.

Phillips’ side had reached 397 for five at stumps on Sunday’s opening day of the match at Hoytes Village.

Jamaican pacer Boris Hutchinson (2-55) led the bowling for Jackson’s XI, who struggled with the bat when they replied.

Captain Jackson, who led CCC in their 2009 campaign, battled for 81 against Bonner (3-24) and Marlon Richard (2-31) who shared five wickets.

When the opening round of the new-look WICB Regional Four-day competition starts on January 8 with three matches in Jamaica, CCC will face regional limited overs champions Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados tackle the Leeward Islands and champions Jamaica meet the Windward Islands.
