Alliman leads Cedarville to 14th season win
JAMAICA’S 6ft-7in power forward/centre Ricardo Alliman, a Calabar High past student, bagged 21 points and held 11 rebounds Thursday night against the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNWO) to steer Cedarville University to their four consecutive victory and consolidate second place in South Division of the American Mideast Conference (AMC).
Alliman knocked in 8 of 12 field goals and five of six free throws to move the Yellow Jackets to 6-2 in the AMC and 14-7 overall in Division II of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Cedarville led the first half 32-27 and outscored the Racers 45-39 in the second half for the 77-66 victory.
Like Alliman, Matt Harner added 21 points (three three-pointers) and Austin Foote chipped with 10 points.
The Yellow Jackets trail Walsh University, 8-1, and are staying comfortably ahead of Shawnee State University, 3-4, and UNWO, 4-6 in the South Division.
Cedarville showed their calibre pulling off a pulsating 73-72 win against Walsh University Tuesday night when Alliman registered 23 points and 10 rebounds, including four blocks.
Tonight at 7:30, Cedarville, which is based in Ohio, will take on North Division cellar team Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After 21 games this season, Alliman is averaging 17.76 points in the AMC to lie in fourth place. Ricky Jackson of Walsh University lead with 23 points, ahead of Eric Dummermuth of Nortre Dame College 22.86, and Josh Vorst of UNWO 18.70.
Nortre Dame head North Division 8-1, fending off Malone University 5-4, and Daemen College 4-4.
