Reno, Seba U for mid-season football final

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Reno FC and Seba United, one-time football giants, will meet this Sunday in the mid-season final of the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League at Jarrett Park.

Kickoff time is 5:00 pm.

The teams, former Premier League champions, topped the points tables after the first round with 29 points each, with Reno marginally ahead of the Montego Bay club on goal difference.

Sunday’s play-to-finish encounter promises to be a close and exciting game as both teams are in good form and are the only two unbeaten teams left in the competition.

The teams had played to a 0-0 scoreline when they met earlier in the season.

Reno has the best defensive record in the league with just two goals conceded, the last coming in a 1-1 draw against Frome, and since then has won four games in a row without conceding a goal.

Former national youth goalkeeper Dennis Taylor will anchor the Reno defence; the Seba attack, which should be led by Wilfred Smith, Jeremy Bucknor and Iton Scott, could have a difficult time breaching the Reno goal.

Martin Williams has scored in Reno’s last three games and will be the point man for the Wendell Downswell-coached team along with O’Brien Woodbine, Tremaine Perry and Davian Thorpe.
