Marley Charity Football set for Ash Wednesday
RED Stripe, Hitz FM and Wisynco are some of the major sponsors who have partnered with event planners Blueprint Consulting and promoter Clive ‘Busy’ Campbell to stage the 27th annual Bob Marley Charity Football Matches and Celebrity Olympics for Ash Wednesday, February 17.
To be staged at the National Stadium, the event will feature various local celebrities and personalities competing in exhibition football matches and track events to raise funds for select local children’s charities and relief for earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
Admission for Grandstand will be $1,000 and $300 for bleachers, while children under 12 years old will be allowed in the bleachers section without charge. Kick-off is 2:00 pm.
The feature of the day will be the match-up between Entertainers and Celebreties and will be sponsored by Red Stripe.
“Partnering with the Bob Marley Charity Football Matches provides a great opportunity for Red Stripe to support a worthy cause as well as to bring to consumers great entertainment value through sport,” said Red Stripe brand manager Safia Cooper.
Other events on the roster include the coroprate 100 metre dash, female artistes 100 metre dash and the DREAM Promoters 4X100 metres relay.
Among the personalities who will be on show are Assassin, Ding Dong, Chino, Chris Martin, Cobra, Elephant Man, Sky Juice, Wayne Marshall, Aidonia, Jimmy Adams, Bruce Bicknell, Zachary Harding, Wolde Harris, Peter Prendergast, Lenny Hyde, Allie McNab and Courtney Walsh.
The event had its media launch at Cuddy’z Sports Bar and Grill in New Kingston yesterday.
