‘Killer Miller’ shot dead by police
RUPER Wallace, also known as ‘Killer Miller’, was fatally shot this morning by members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Stanton Housing Scheme near to Morant Bay in St Thomas.
The JTF went to the Stanton Housing Scheme in search of Wallace and his cronies and surrounded the house he was believed to be in. Members of the JTF team entered the house and Miller reportedly tried to escape through a backdoor armed with a Tang Folio 9 mm pistol.
Wallace allegedly fired several rounds at the police who returned the fire. A pistol and three 9mm rounds were taken from him and sent for forensic testing.
‘Killer Miller’ was suspected to be involved in a number of crimes including murder and extortion. Police said that he is one of the major gang leaders (Joel Andem gang remnants) in Eastern St Thomas.
Wallace was already convicted for the murder of Sylvia Edwards; the gas station operator (Hagley Park and Waltham Park Roads) who was kidnapped and subsequently found dead in the Papine Road of St Andrew in 2000.
Following an appeal the case was ordered to be retried (2006) by the Privy Council. The case is still before the Courts.
