Duckie assumes head coach role at Waterhouse
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Top coach Donovan Duckie has taken over the reins at Waterhouse FC, following the sudden resignation of Argentine Javier Aintein.
Duckie resigned from Chapelton Maroons recently, and this will be his third stint at Waterhouse, having coached there before in 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2017/2018.
“It is a privilege to return to Waterhouse FC, a club that I have tremendous respect and affection for,” said Duckie.
“I look forward to working with the players, staff and the entire Waterhouse family as we set our sights on achieving our goals together,” he added.
“Special thanks to the chairman, Bruce Bicknell and President Donovan White for entrusting me with this responsibility.”
Duckie has had success with Waterhouse, leading them to second place in 2013 and in 2015 he took them to the Caribbean Club Championship.
“Waterhouse is like a second home for me, and I am forever grateful to the people of the community for the love they have shown me in the past. All those good memories when we were one penalty away from the title against Portmore United, and we got Concacaf club football birth at the same time,” Duckie pointed out.
He continued: “But what is important is for me, it’s good to reflect on history, but it counts for nothing in football. So, we must ensure that this club takes its rightful place in the Jamaica Premier League, which is to be champions and to be playing in Concacaf football”.
Describing it as an honour to be returning to a club with a rich history Duckie said “I’m just looking forward to getting everything running off the ground and ready to give my best, ready to give 100 per cent because I know anything less than that will be unacceptable to the people of the community and just want to say to the community come out support the team.”
