Hull City in negotiations to sign Leon Bailey from Aston Villa — reports
Hull City have reportedly entered negotiations to sign Leon Bailey from Aston Villa as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.
According to reports from Football Today and The Athletic, talks have taken place in recent days between Hull, Villa and the player’s representatives over a potential summer transfer.
Bailey is attracting interest from several clubs, including Turkish club Trabzonspor and Spanish side Celta Vigo, but hopes to remain in England.
The 28-year-old is reportedly not part of Aston Villa manager Unai Emery’s plans, and the club is hoping to sell him on a permanent deal. The newly promoted Premier League club are seeking a permanent transfer as they reshape their squad, the report said.
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has made 163 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and registering 25 assists during his time at the club.
His most recent campaign was disrupted by injury. After joining Roma on a season-long loan last summer, fitness issues restricted him to just one Serie A start before Villa recalled him in January. He went on to make 13 Premier League appearances during the second half of the season.
