Cocktails with… Sandra Masterton
Sandra Masterton, deputy managing director of Key Insurance Co Ltd, is absolutely thrilled about the Nobu at Strawberry Hill experience she shared with hubby William. Sipping a post-dinner cocktail Wednesday night the stunner tells us why she’s placed her social calender on hold to focus on her roles as corporate exec, fab wife and mother.
What are you sipping?
A mango martini.
It’s night three of the Nobu at Strawberry Hill experience and you’ve just had dinner. How did you enjoy the experience?
It was absolutely fantastic; the combination of Nobu and Strawberry Hill was simply amazing, quite a fabulous pairing.
Socialite or homebody?
I don’t have much time to socialise because I have a full-time job and I’m a full-time mum. But when Suzie Berry (who conceptualised and executed the Nobu event) said she was having this event we knew it would be well worth it.
Flats or stilettos?
I used to be a stilettos-girl all the way, but these days it’s all about moving fast and you can’t do that if you’re in stilettos. So yes, I much prefer flats (laughs).
LBD or jeans?
It depends on the occasion…love the little black dress, but jeans are great too.
What’s your must-have accessory?
Oh darling, my iPhone…need to be in constant communication. Everybody has sort of moved on to the BlackBerry, but for me… my iPhone is it.
What’s your style?
More conservative.
Who does your hair?
Betty Ziadie, she’s been doing my hair pretty much since birth (laughs). She just knows my hair.
Who does your nails?
I do, other than that I get a pedicure at Betty’s.
What perfume are you currently spraying?
Moschino Cheap and Chic.
Who or what inspires you?
My father inspires me. He comes from very humble beginnings, but has managed to achieve so much. And in spite of his achievements he’s always encouraged his children not to live in excess and to be grateful for everything.
When you’re not working, where’s the best place to find you?
At home, I don’t go out anymore…spending lots of time being a mother.
What’s your idea of the perfect date?
My husband bringing me to Nobu at Strawberry Hill (laughs). And what’s extra special about this is that he’s allergic to fish and he still considered sharing the experience with me.
What’s your idea of the perfect man?
My husband William Masterton, he’s selfless.
What’s on your iPod?
My cousin Kaya Jones is a Pussycat Doll, her mum’s Jamaican and her dad is Native American, so I have her song Hollywood Dolls on there. I have quite a collection: from the sixties gold to Lady GaGa and Beyoncé to Desperate Housewives.
What projects are you currently working on?
I have a new product — Travel insurance, which features extremely low rates.
And 10 years from now?
Hopefully I will be retired…early, because I would have by then amassed a fortune, but that’s not going to happen because I’m a workaholic.
