POSTPONED

JCDC Regional Festival of Foods

THE Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) wishes to advise the public that the Regional Festival of Foods – Eastern Showcase scheduled for Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Chinese Benevolent Association in Kingston has been postponed until further notice.

A new date will be announced shortly and participants are asked to monitor the media and contact their respective parish offices for further updates.

The JCDC regrets any inconveniences which may have been caused.

Music For Life

A release from the Lawman Lynch Foundation (LLF) states that due to the current State of Emergency imposed on Kingston and St Andrew, the Music for Life concert scheduled for Saturday May 29, at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre has been postponed until further notice.

“While we regret any inconvenience this postponement may cause, the LLF and Music for Life family firmly believes that the safety of our patrons, family and friends are of utmost importance. Additionally, we must ensure that our supporters from all communities have time to recoup,” the release stated.

The new date for Music for Life will be announced shortly.

Conscious singer Etana was one of the artistes scheduled to perform on the show.

Heineken Good Times

Heineken Good Times, the most celebrated oldies party in Jamaica, has been postponed. The event was scheduled to take place at the Mas Camp Village on Saturday, May 29, after completing good runs in Grenada and New York. Despite high anticipations of party fans, the Quorum, organisers of the event, postponed the event due to the recent instability in public order in the Corporate Area and its surroundings.

“We thank our patrons for their continued support over the years, but we also have to bear their safety in mind,” explained Jerome Hamilton of The Quorum. “We hope that they remain safe in this period, and we will see them at the next Good Times,” he said.

Good Times, Jamaica’s oldest party series, is held in Kingston, Ocho Rios and Negril each year. It draws together thousands of loyal fans from across all social strata in Jamaica, and also has robust support from overseas visitors.

Red Bones live shows

Due to the current unrest in Kingston, Red Bones has postponed both live shows for this week (May 27 and 28).

At this time, the restaurant and bar remain open for both lunch and dinner.

Powerful Women & Men Perform for Charity

The staging of the 10th Powerful Women & Men Perform for Charity event, which was scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 6 pm at the National Indoor Sports Centre, has been postponed until further notice.

The decision was taken yesterday at a special meeting of the organising committee of the show, in light of the current State of Emergency.
