Total ‘green’ tips
BE ‘green’ and save with Total’s tips.
* Slow down
For every five mph you reduce highway speed, you can reduce fuel consumption by seven per cent.
* Don’t be an idler
Besides causing pollution, idling wastes gas. If you stop for more than 30 seconds, turn off the engine.
* It’s OK to be cool
Don’t bother to “warm up” your car for too long before driving. In our climate, your engine warms up quickly.
* Don’t be a jerk
Drive more smoothly. Avoid frequent starts and stops, and sharp acceleration to improve fuel efficiency.
* Lighten your load
Don’t overload your vehicle. For every 100 extra pounds carried around, your vehicle loses one to two per cent in fuel efficiency.
