CG met with Sir Howard in Kingston
Dear Editor,
I write with reference to Betty Ann Blaine’s column, “A high price to pay for integrity” in the August 24 Observer.
In the column, it was inadvertently and inaccurately stated that “it was the former Governor General Sir Howard Cooke who met with Christie in the United States and invited him to take up the position of contractor general”.
I must hasten to clarify that although at the time I was contacted via telephone by Sir Howard while I was resident in the United States, it was I who had the distinct pleasure, privilege and honour of meeting with him at his office at King’s House in Jamaica, to discuss the kind offer he made to me.
I continue to remain deeply appreciative for the privilege that I have been afforded to serve my country in the capacity of contractor general.
