Heineken Green Synergy Reality show excites on TVJ
The Heineken Green Synergy Reality TV show last Friday lit up local television with the first episode of the exciting series, which was aired on TVJ.
The show featured the auditions for the 2010 Heineken Green Synergy which took place at Beavers in Mandeville, Pier One in Montego Bay and the Quad nightclub in Kingston. The set was really looking good and was ‘punctuated’ by the beautiful host Tami Chynn and the awesome Heineken bar.
The auditions saw some very talented DJs displaying their skills to the judges, turntable twins Alric and Boyd. But there were some DJs who evidently didn’t have a clue about the trade, which, apart from giving the judges ‘heartaches’, added some humour to the proceedings.
In Mandeville it was DJ 47 who looked the most impressive. The soft-spoken DJ created a storm on the turntables and left his audience in awe. “I am pleased with what I did today (audition). I wasn’t planning on entering, but my friends and supporters encouraged me so I just went for it,” DJ 47 disclosed.
DJ Don Hype and DJ Marvin, both selectors on Mandeville’s most popular sound system, Black Love, also did well. So too did DJ Blosh.
In Montego Bay, two of last year’s quarter-finalists, DJ Force Ripe from Westmoreland and the exciting DJ Rass Lee from St Ann, gave a good account of themselves. So too did DJ Blu from Margaritaville and the young DJ Yaro, a protégé of former winner DJ Nicco of Fame FM.
The lone female entrant, DJ Naz, a semi-finalist last year, once again outshone most of her male counterparts. Narity, a popular DJ on the party scene also did well, as well as Ricky Eminence (last year’s quarter-finalist) and DJ Kuumba.
The DJs who impressed judges Alric and Boyd were asked to send in a mix CD which will be used to help in determining the final 10 for the show.
It will be interesting to see who makes the final cut. A DJ might have impressed at the audition but if his or her mix CD isn’t up to ‘scratch’, then he or she might not be chosen for the show.
The question of which of the DJs will make it to the final will be answered in the show’s second episode, this Friday on TVJ at 9:30 p.m.
The DJs are vying for more than $1 million in cash and equipment courtesy of Heineken, along with other prizes including an internship at the ‘entertainment capital’ of radio, FAME FM.
Co-sponsors of Heineken Green Synergy 2010 are Claro, TVJ, FAME FM, Jamaica Observer and Doritos.
