Big ganja bust in MoBay
Drug found in canisters floating in harbour
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Just over 1,300 pounds of compressed ganja was seized in the Montego Freeport Harbour by law enforcement officers between Friday and this morning.
The drug was found during two operations conducted by the Marine Police in collaboration with the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard.
In the first operation which was carried out at about 2:00 am on Friday three canisters with ganja weighing about 800 pounds was found afloat in the harbour.
The second bust happened about 5:00 am this morning.
Four canisters containing about 500 pounds of the compressed weed was found attached to the hull of a vessel that was docked in the port.
No arrests have been made in connection with both seizures.
The Narcotics Police are investigating.
