TEF funds ambulance for Negril
NEGRIL, Westmoreland — The Negril Chamber of Commerce has acquired US$61,000 from the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) to purchase an ambulance for this resort town, which has been without the facility for the past year.
Carey Wallace, president of the Negril Chamber of Commerce, who lauded the TEF for sponsoring the ambulance, bemoaned that in recent years several ambulances that have been secured for the resort town have been wrecked.
” In light of the fact that we have had quite a few ambulances in the past here in Negril and within weeks of them coming, they were unfortunately, wrecked, we had to go for a period without ambulances. Of course the Negril business community was not happy with that situation so we lobbied to get another ambulance raising funds from the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF),” Wallace told the Observer West.
According to Wallace, TEF has mandated the Negril Chamber to take charge of the maintenance of the vehicle.
The chamber has ordered the vehicle which is expected to arrive in the community within the next two months.
