On May 29 I bought a two-door Whirlpool no-frost refrigerator at Courts Port Maria branch. I paid $76,607.67 in cash for the refrigerator and it was delivered to my father’s house at Days Mountain, near Oracabessa, St Mary.

Since I bought the fridge it has been fixed at least four times.

Two weeks after I bought the fridge it wasn’t cooling or freezing. I called Courts Port Maria and they sent the technician. He had to put gas in it.

On July 4 I visited my father and noticed that the cooling compartment was not closing properly (you could see the light in the fridge when it was closed). The technician went to fix it and said that the gasket was the problem.

On August 21 I visited my father and noticed that the cooling compartment of the fridge still was not closing.

On Monday August 23 I went to see the manager at Courts Pt Maria and told her of the several problems. I told her that it was my belief that I had been sold a used fridge for a new fridge. I told her that my reason for thinking that the fridge was used was that

* We did not get it with a manual

*Gas had to be put in it to get it to cool and freeze

* It had a gasket problem.

On August 25 there was a problem with the fridge for the fourth time as it was not closing properly and both doors were falling off. The techinician who came to fix it had to take off the door for the cooling compartment and screw it up and put it back on.

My brother visited my father on Wednesday, September 1, and noticed that when the cooling door was opened and closed the freezer door flew open.

I am totally fed up with this situation and am of the view that Courts should come and take this fridge and replace it with a new one.

After paying $76,607.67 for a new fridge three months ago, the technician should not have to be working on it almost every other week.

Something is wrong.

Could you kindly help me in this matter.

We spoke with the Consumer Charter Manager at Courts and your complaint has been investigated. She has advised Tell Claudienne that your most recent complaint on Wednesday September 1 was attended to. She said that a Courts technician made an adjustment to the door and the refrigerator is functioning OK.

The charter manager said that because the refrigerator is now working properly at this time she has no jusification for changing it.

She said that if in the future there were more problems with the refrigerator, she would consider changing it.

Dear Claudienne

I was a vice principal at a primary school and I retired in March.

The Ministry of Finance informed me that I would be due a pension cheque from the Accountant General as of April 3, 2010.

When I called the Accountant General’s office I was told that everything was in place for me to get the cheque but up to Thursday August 26, no cheque had been drawn for me.

I think I am getting the runaround so could you kindly check with them for me.

When Tell Claudienne spoke to the Accountant General’s secretary on Thursday August 26 we were advised that the cheque was not quite ready. They assured us that it would be ready by Monday August 30 and we note that you have collected the cheque.
