Scotiabank ‘A’ lead top teams to wins in Super League netball
DEFENDING champions Scotiabank ‘A’, along with Jamaica Broilers, General Accident and Jamaica Constabulary Force ‘A’ scored convincing wins as the 2010 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Super League continued at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.
The Winston Nevers-coached Scotiabank ‘A’ were also chalking up their second straight win. The bankers were led by goal-shooter Marsha Murphy’s 58 goals from 77 attempts, while her goal-attack netted 23 goals from 28 attempts in defeating West Indies Synthetic Company (WISYNCO) 81-30. Janet Reid of WISYNCO scored 22 goals from 41 attempts.
Meanwhile, it was another runaway win for the bankers who led the entire match, leading 20-7 and 42-15 at half time. The defending champions rushed to 63-20 with a further 21 goals to the losers’ five before romping to a convincing win.
Jamaica Broilers also won their second game from as many starts with a 54-23 win over National Housing Trust. Goal-shooter Anna Kay Griffiths scored 32 goals from 37 attempts and goal-attack Tashana Bloomfield, 22 from 35 attempts. Crystal Grant put in 19 goals from 24 attempts. The Dorett Williams-coached Broilers led 15-4, 29-8 at half time, 41-16 at third quarter then pulled away to victory.
Former many-time champions General Accident romped to a runaway 70-27 win over Scotiabank ‘B’ for their first win. Goal-shooter Margaret Lawrence netted a near perfect 51 goals from 57 attempts and Nadine Bryan 19 from 28, while Christine Morgan scored 19 from 24 attempts.
General Accident, who have Oberon Pitterson as their coach/player, led 14-7, 33-18 and 48-26.
Jamaica Constabulary Force ‘A’ chalked up their second consecutive win with a 50-35 result over Sagicor Life Jamaica. Niesha Howard with 35 goals from 48 attempts and Shernette Walker, 15 fro 25, led the scoring for the cops, while Lorraine Lewis netted 26 goals from 36 attempts for the insurance aggregation. The police led 12-10, 24-22 at half time, 39-28 at the third quarter break before coming out winners.
