The annual general meeting of the Jamaica Volleyball Association (JaVA) will take place this morning at 10:00 at Up Park Camp.

It will centre on the election of a general secretary, a post left vacant last May by Arlene Morgan who resigned.

President of JaVA Major Warrenton Dixon will deliver the president’s report, before making a call for unity, and looking at international, regional and local activities.

The AGM will examine the national club league, ISSA high school competition, and the inaugural national primary and prep school programme, coming up with ways to provide meaningful information for proper reports and match facts on competitions.

In his vision statement, the president vows to transform volleyball into a major sport in Jamaica, actively being played in clubs, communities, secondary and tertiary institutions, and among businesses.

Major Dixon will also try to set the foundation for national junior and senior teams to “consistently qualify for major global tournaments”.
