DJ Jerry wants Green Synergy championship

the other being DJ 47, The winner will be decided by voting which will be announced at the big event, the Grand Finals which takes place today, Friday, October 29, 2010 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

DJ Jerry is one of the two finalists battling for the 2010 Heineken Green Synergy Championship. No stranger to Green Synergy, having placed second to DJ Nicco in 2006. This time around he came back being more focused, better prepared with a mission to go all the way.

Born Jerry Whyte, the soft spoken DJ is from Cassia Park in St Andrew, home of many entertainment personalities.

Jerry developed a love for music at a very young age and listened to a wide cross section of music which has helped him in his career as a DJ. “There was a DJ called Andrew in my community who played on a sound called Cupid. I used to watch and admire the way how he selected so he influenced me a lot,” DJ Jerry explained.

“I decided that I wanted to be a DJ after listening to the DJs working on FAME FM. I said to myself that I wanted to be like them.”

DJ Jerry has maintained his confidence going into this year’s competition. He has been seen as a ‘silent assassin’ — not having a lot of hype but doing what is required of him.

His knowledge of different genres stood out as well as his superb turntable skills which helped him a lot on the Heineken Green Synergy Reality TV show.

“I knew that I would reach this far, a lot of persons even some of the DJs who entered this year didn’t believe I would, but I believed in myself,” Jerry said.

What was it like for him being on the show, he said, “It has been just great. I have been getting lots of support from all over. People have been calling me, stopping me in the streets to talk to me. It’s a good feeling.”

Commenting on what winning the championship would mean for him he said, “That would be a great achievement for me. I want more than anything else the FAME (FM) internship, that would be like a dream come true working alongside the FAME DJs. The money is good too but the FAME internship is what stands out for me.”

The 2010 Heineken Green Synergy Champion will walk away with $500, 000, state of the art DJ equipment, a one month internship on FAME FM and a Claro Phone.

The second prize winner will receive $200, 000, DJ Equipment and a Claro phone, while the two semi finalist, DJ Naz and DJ Banka will get $50, 000 each.

DJ Jerry will be showcasing his talent at the Grand Finals against fellow competitor DJ 47. They will be working alongside international acclaimed DJs Grand Master Flash, DJ Qbert, Jamaica’s own Delano, Kurt Riley, Miami based Richie D. The show will be hosted by the certified diva Tami Chynn and DJ Enuf from BET.
