TITLE contenders Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United clash in the marquee game, while leaders Waterhouse visit Humble Lion as the Digicel Premier League continues today.

In other games: Arnett Gardens tackle St Georges; Benfica host Reno; Sporting Central Academy travel to Boys’ Town and Village United play Harbour View.

Second-placed Tivoli Gardens, on 21 points from nine games and already in the first End-of-Round Final, will be looking to continue their good form with a win over fifth-placed Portmore United, on 16 points.

Tivoli have won four consecutive games since losing to Waterhouse and playing at home, will be hard to beat. Strikers Devon Hodges and Roland Dean are again expected to lead the Tivoli charge, with support expected from playmaker Kaemmar Daley, Christopher Jackson, the hard-tackling Kevin Blackford and Steve Green.

Portmore will be playing their last match of the round and will hope to finish on a high and stay close to the leaders with a win.

The Linval Dixon-coached outfit will be without the services of top defender Adrian Reid, plus midfielders Ricardo Cousin and Tremaine Stewart, due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Hence, the onus will on Steven Morrissey, Eric Vernan, Rafe Wolfe, Errol Stevens, Shauntel Mundle, Bryan Bayliss and Mario Swaby for victory.

Meanwhile, leaders Waterhouse, on 22 points, will enter the lion’s den at Effortville hoping to subdue the resurgent Humble Lion, lying in 10th spot on nine.

The Baris Johnson-coached Waterhouse have won their last three games, but will find the home team a hard nut to crack.

Since the acquisition of Lenworth Hyde as coach, Humble Lion are unbeaten in their last four games, winning twice, and will be looking for their second home win of the season.

Hyde has brought a level of consistency and organisation at the back, conceding just once in four games and Waterhouse will have their hands full in breaking them down.

Champions and fourth-placed Harbour View (16) are fancied over the struggling Village United who are lying in 11th spot with nine points.

Harbour View have the best away record so far, registering three wins, and should be confident of achieving win number four against a Village team lacking in confidence.

At Collie Smith Drive, third-placed Boys’ Town, on 17 points, must be at their best against eighth-placed Sporting Central Academy, sitting four point below them.

Boys’ Town were upset 1-2 by Benfica in their last game, while Sporting are on a two-game losing streak, and both team are aiming to rebound in style.

The promoted St Ann’s outfit Benfica, currently in seventh spot on 14 points, have surprised pundits by winning four times this season, having turned back seasoned teams like Portmore United, St Georges and have defeated Harbour View and Boys’ Town in the last two rounds.

Playing at their Drax Hall home, Benfica will prove hard to beat; however, sixth-placed Reno, also on 14 points, will not lie down and hand the points to their hosts.

Ninth-placed Arnett Gardens (nine), under new coach Paul “Tegat” Davis, and cellar team St George’s (four) should be locked in a close battle at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Arnett should have more energy and vigour and are expected to utilise home advantage to secure a rare home win.
