One dead in drug deal gone awry
TOWER ISLE, St Mary – Police in St Mary suspect that an illegal drug deal, which apparently went sour, resulted in the death of a man at Tower Isle early this morning. Observer.
The dead man, whose badly battered body was found on a beach in the community, has been identified as 44-year-old Calvin Edwards otherwise called ‘Oney’, a craft vendor of Tower Isle and Spanish Town in St Catherine.
Police said his head was bashed in and that he had cuts and bruises all over his body.
Edwards was found lying on a section of the beach next to the Couples Resort where he operates a craft shop shortly before 8:00 am.
Police said Edwards’ attackers reportedly went to his shop about 3 am while he was asleep inside and kicked in the door. He was taken from the board structure and beaten.
“It appears he was involved in some illegal drug running and he broke somebody’s foot and they came for him early this morning,” an investigator told the
