Scotiabank lift Norman Goodison trophy
DEFENDING champion Scotiabank Group achieved the treble when they defeated Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) 2-0 in the final of the 2010JNBS/Western Sports Norman Goodison Inter-Bank Football competition at the UWI Bowl, Mona on Sunday.
The match was played under wet conditions as heavy rains almost caused the match to be called off. Scotiabank Group, however, relished the wet conditions and dominated the first 20 minutes of play, marked by their attacking sway led by Nicholas McCreath, Richard West and Stefan Bartley.
JNBS finally wilted under the pressure and scored in the opening goal in the 11th minute when Jermaine Gardener passed the ball down the right wing to McCreath, who eluded two defenders and crossed to West who placed his shot past Javon Spence in goal for his ninth of the season.
Six minutes later, Scotiabank Group went 2-0 up when McCreath beat a hapless Spence in goal.
