Dear Editor,

I wish to apologise to the people of Haiti after the lecture and question and answer session by the 42nd President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton.

At the last moment I attended the presentation, with the hope in my heart that I would hear how and when the people of Haiti would see relief to their suffering, especially at a time when the neglect of their plight coincides with the deadly onslaught of cholera which they are facing.

Surprisingly, no one questioned the obvious failure of the former president to respond to that concern at the lecture.

Editor, I am not sure what the proceeds of the obviously successful lecture were intended for, but suffice it to say, as I fight with my conscience, I pray that in the real service of humanity we will all not wait indefinitely to exhale, but demand of those with the necessary resources to live up to the commitments that were made to help to rebuild the lives of the Haitians.

It is time for action and the establishment of an achievable timetable, not more rhetoric.
