‘Magpies’ players deny knowing of drugs at house
LONDON, England (AP) — Newcastle say captain Kevin Nolan denies knowing that drugs were brought into his house following tabloid newspaper allegations.
The News of the World claimed yesterday that cocaine was found on a table in Nolan’s house after the midfielder and teammate Andy Carroll allegedly brought women back to the house after a night out.
Newcastle said in a statement that “both Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll categorically deny having any knowledge that drugs had been brought onto the premises and are pleased that the paper does not even allege that they were aware of the presence of drugs”.
A court last month ordered Carroll to stay at Nolan’s family home until January after being charged with assaulting a former girlfriend. Carroll’s lawyer has said the player will deny the offence and claim self-defence.
