Dear Editor,

Having heard of the death of Professor Barry Chevannes, I could only think of only one phrase: the anthropological saint. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica, Part 1, reminded us that whatever is divided and multiplied in creatures exists in God simply and unitedly. Now man has different kinds of knowledge, according to the different things known: knowledge of principles; science as regards knowledge of conclusions; wisdom, as he knows the highest cause. God knows all these by one simple act of knowledge.

Professor Chevannes is a manifestation of a variety of intellectual reflections par excellence; a spirituality that transcends human knowledge, a simplicity that unearths a divine presence, a variety of lyrics that would awaken the angelic choirs, and we must not forget his smile and laughter that relax your mind and arouse the scholarly memories.
