Yendi bags new American Toyota campaign
VIEWERS of US network television would have seen the new North American Toyota campaign featuring Jamaican beauty Yendi Phillipps in a lead role.
Shot in Hollywood for Toyota’s producers by well-known film director Hype Williams, this commercial is one of several Jamaican, regional and international projects being undertaken by Yendi who was placed second at the Miss Universe in Las Vegas this past August.
Specially managed by Pulse’s Kingsley Cooper, in consultation with Invyte Productions, licensees for Miss Jamaica Universe, Yendi has booked several assignments in the months since Las Vegas and has been travelling to the wider Caribbean and the United States to complete these assignments.
Phillipps is in hot demand globally for appearances, event hosting, speaking engagements, commercials and film roles. While she is not at liberty to disclose most of these assignments due to contractual ‘gag’ orders, she will, however, be able to announce a number of them, once they have been released.
No stranger to the international spotlight, Yendi was a finalist at Miss World 2007 in China, prior to her dramatic success at Miss Universe. In Sanya, China, Yendi was the only contestant to make all five fast-track competition finals.
Over the years, Yendi Amira Phillipps has added a wide range of credits to her résumé. These include the Pepsi Refresh commercial in the US and the Sprite campaign in India. She has been a special guest on the Food Network show Throw down with Bobby Flay and has been host/presenter of Movie Hang Time and Digicel’s Rising Stars in Kingston.
Yendi has done extensive runway work and her covers and editorial credits include several Caribbean and international publications, such as Skywritings magazine, Caribbean Beat magazine, Woman & Home, Fair Lady, Buzz, Collage, Soul, Basia, Ocean Style among several others.
Since her success at Miss Universe, requests for interviews, editorials and appearances have come from almost every corner of the globe. In this regard, relocation to Los Angeles, alternating with New York and Atlanta has become a real possibility for the beauty queen.
