For Your Eyes Only, the collaborative single recorded by diamond-selling reggae act Shaggy and singer Alaine, has hit the number one spot on the New York Reggae chart.

The song was produced by Tony ‘CD’ Kelly and released the K-Licious label.

In a release to the media, Alaine was all excited about the track. “I am grateful for the response to the song so far and am looking forward to more. It’s an honour to work with Tony Kelly and Shaggy they are both incredibly talented. I am happy for every blessing and ready for more.”

Alaine had been doing some work with Kelly, a well known producer in dancehall circles, when the opportunity to record For Your Eyes Only presented itself. “Tony called me one day and said he had a rhythm and that he wanted me to voice a hook on it. He gave me the idea of using For Your Eyes Only for the hook, and I wrote the chorus based on that. Tony then contacted Shaggy and the song was completed,” Alaine explained.

This song marks the second number one collaborative effort for Alaine, who previously topped the charts with the Beenie Man collaboration Dreaming Of You.

This is Shaggy’s fourth number one collaborative hit, following on the heels of Your Eyes and It Wasn’t Me (both of which featured Rik Rok) and Hey Sexy Lady (with Sean Paul and Brian & Tony Gold).

Another single from Alaine, You Are Me which is featured on VP Records’ Strictly the Best Volume 42 compilation, is currently charting on the Jamaica Music Countdown. The song was produced by Alaine for her 1Thirty1 Records imprint.
