Tastee Talent Trail down to final six
IT’S now down to the wire in the 2010 Tastee Talent Trail, the grand finals of which unfolds next Thursday at the Tastee Open Air Theatre in Cross Roads.
After the final of three eliminations last Wednesday, a combination of a public vote and the judges scorecard, the field of contestants has been brought down to six who are vying for a chance of taking home the cash prizes totalling $1.3 million.
The field — singers Shelly-Dean Bartley, Jermaine Bryan, Romario English and Lorna Gordon, Deejay Andre Lee, Dancers Supreme Blazers and Dub Poets COLAS — arrived at the venue on Wednesday knowing that based on their performances at the elimination show last week, one person would be sent home.
It is sufficient to say however, that the appreciative audience on Wednesday was treated to high-energy performances, which were a marked improvement over last week’s lacklustre first round efforts. Heading into next Thursdays’ final the remaining six delivered fair to solid performances.
But nothing has changed in terms of the frontrunners. The top four have long been established, only the order in which they will finish is left to be seen. With consistent command performances, singer Lorna Gordon, deejay Andre Lee, dancers Supreme Blazers and dub poets COLAS, have clearly separated themselves from the pack. It would be the surprise, nay, upset of the century, if the grand prize does not end up in the hands of one those contestants.
Consistent with the two earlier elimination rounds, the contestants performed two pieces before the high-profile panel of judges consisting of; actress Audrey Reid, host of the hit Sports Commentary on TVJ, Oral Tracey and media personality Amelia ‘Milk’ Sewell.
The new-look talent series is sponsored this year by Tastee, Pepsi, Breezes, Claro, TVJ, RJR 94, RE TV, Hits 97, Supreme Ventures, Kosmo Car Rental and the KSAC.
