Congrats, Minister Spencer
Dear Editor,
The National Organisation of Women (JLP, NOW) wishes to congratulate Minister of Health Ruddy Spencer for his bold and courageous commitment to continue to provide health care to the citizens of Jamaica without user fees. We are proud of the government for its ongoing and unwavering policy, especially in view of the Opposition’s call for a rollback in fees.
The National Organisation of Women knows and understands how challenging it is to maintain all the medical needs required to run establishments without charge to the patients, but as women we have been grateful for the times when we have given birth without charge, when our sick children have been cared for without charge, when our families have received major surgery without charge. Indeed, we are grateful that the stress and worry of having to find funds to pay for medical care has been taken off us because of the government’s policy.
The PNP must stop trying to push the government into reversing its policy on health care. This policy is the most forward-thinking and caring policy that any government can give to its people.
