38 cops promoted
COMMISSIONER of Police Owen Ellington yesterday announced the promotion of 38 senior police officers in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) weekly Force Orders.
Assistant Commissioner Delworth Heath, who now heads the JCF’s Training Branch, will next Wednesda, be promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner of police.
Heath will become the new inspector general of the force. He takes over the reigns from Deputy Commissioner of Police Charles Scarlett who will begin his retirement in mid January, after 41 years of service.
Meanwhile, five senior superintendents have been promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner of police. They are:
* Dormah Harrison — Head Strategic Review Implementation Team;
* Ealan Powell — Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch;
* Elbert Nelson — Head National Intelligence Bureau;
* George Quallo — Head of the Mobile Reserve; and
* Derrick Cochrane — Head of the Police Area 3 headquarters.
Thirteen superintendents and one deputy superintendent were officially promoted on January 1 to the rank of senior superintendent of police (SSP).
Among the new SSPs are Linette Williams Martin, who will shortly head the St James Police Division; Dathan Henry, divisional commander for Clarendon; Fitz Bailey, head of the Organised Crime Investigation Division; Radcliffe Lewis, head of the Traffic Division; and Anthony Castelle, who commands the St Catherine North Division.
Meantime, 19 deputy superintendents of police were promoted on January 1 to the rank of superintendent. They include Noel Christie, who now heads the Portland Division; Andrew Lewis, who takes over the Trelawny Division; Cedric Allen, the new St Mary commander; and Egbert Parkins who will soon become the divisional commander for Westmoreland.
