Recovering Taylor picked by Pune
BANGALORE, India (CMC) — Jamaican Jerome Taylor was the only player from the West Indies bought on the second day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) players’ auction on Sunday.
The 26-year-old fast bowler, who is now on the comeback trail, following a series of hip and back injuries, was bought for the base price of US$100,000 by expansion side Pune.
This means only three players from the West Indies are likely to feature in this year’s fourth edition of the prestigious Twenty20 competition.
The others are Kieron Pollard, one of the four “protected players” belonging to the Mumbai Indians franchise, and fellow all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who was picked-up by Chennai Super Kings for US$200,000 on Saturday.
All other West Indians, including hard-hitting opener Chris Gayle and batting legend Brian Lara, remained unsold.
