Rapper Eve to perform with Lady Saw in Jamaica

Rapper Eve is the latest international star confirmed to perform at the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards, set for March 12 at Devon House in Kingston.

She joins fellow hi-hopper Trina and Jamerican comedian Rayzor for the annual event.

“After weeks of backing and forthing between both camps, I am happy to report that I have confirmation that Eve will attend this year’s EME Awards in Jamaica,” an elated founder and chairman Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess disclosed.

Eve, who in 2007 collaborated with Sean Paul on the reggae-tinged single Give It To You — came knocking on reggae’s door again in 2010,when she recorded another successful collaboration with Dancehall Diva Lady Saw – He’s at My House, from Saw’s album My Way. The two female acts are expected to up the ante with their performance at the EME Awards in Kingston. It is the very first time they will perform their collaboration live and Saw can’t wait.

“I feel extremely excited about performing with Eve. I can’t wait to see her. We have been communicating a lot on BB in recent weeks. We have been good friends for a while now. She loves Jamaica and is looking forward to performing with me at the EME Awards,” Saw said.

“Eve is a great performer like myself. I have been a fan of hers for a very long time,” Saw said.

Aside from performing at the EME Awards, Eve will be inducted as an “International Friend of Reggae” and will be recognised for her collaboration with Lady Saw, which is currently blowing up in Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean.

The 2011 Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards will recognise the top performers in approximately 30 award categories including DJ of the Year, Best New Artiste, Song of the Year, Vocalist of the Year, and Producer of the Year among others. Winners will be determined based on their performance on The Weekly Jamaica Music Countdown (Charts), votes via texts and votes at the website www.emeawards.com.

Eve, who came on the rap scene in the 1990’s, was a key member of the seminal rap squad Ruff Ryders. As the only female in the crew, she stood out as the sexy, no-nonsense, street-savvy chick who could hold her own amongst the boys. Anchored by chart-topping singles like Gotta Man and Love Is Blind, her debut album Let There Be garnered huge urban radio play and Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) double platinum success. Her sophomore release Scorpion also went platinum, while garnering her crossover appeal with the Grammy Award-winning hit Let Me Blow Ya Mind, featuring Gwen Stefani. She is currently in studios recording tracks for her forthcoming album.

In 2002, Eve made her silver screen debut in Vin Diesel’s action blockbuster Triple X and also landed an even bigger role in Ice Cube’s Barber Shop. Her clothing line Fetish — which reflects her sexiness, womanhood and class — is a contemporary sportswear collection, that includes leather jackets, oversize sweaters, denim jeans and logo t-shirts.
