Hard Drive coming with conscious music
THE music arena is already filled with promising artistes all seeking that big break. Tian Harris aka Hard Drive knows that only too well. Still, he is determined to carve his niche in the music biz and he says he has just the right ‘formula’ to make his name.
“I am giving a little bit of everything. I’m not focussed on one thing. I like to explore — except for gun and slackness, which you will never hear me recording,” says Hard Drive about what he is bringing to the table.
“I know the challenge is rough but I have to just do good music — not just for myself, but for the people, especially the young ones coming up.”
According to Hard Drive, the music needs to be urgently addressed by upcoming artistes as “they must set it back the right way”.
Hard Drive, who hails from Hayes, Clarendon, said he developed an early interest in music. While attending Hayes Primary and Junior High, he never missed an opportunity to showcase his talent at school concerts and community events.
He eventually left Clarendon and came to live in Kingston, where he attended Holy Trinity High School. There, he continued to hone his talent by performing at school concerts.
After leaving school, Hard Drive continued to seek links into living his dream. He was assisted by his friend UT Ras, who would often “hook him up” with promoters so that he could get exposure on stage shows being held by them.
Things looked up for Hard Drive when he was introduced to Andrew Blacks of UIM Records. Hard Drive recorded some songs but they didn’t really get him any buzz in the
cut-throat world of the music industry. He finally saw a glimmer of hope when he recorded Tick Tock in December 2008. The song got some buzz, but it was Back It Up that gained him the
most airplay.
Among Hard Drive’s other releases are Black Skin — done in combination with Gyptian and Black Diamond.
Hard Drive is now set to release another single, Your Love, which he says should be out real soon. Also in the pipeline for him is a mixtape, which he hopes will create an even
bigger buzz for him. The upcoming artiste is hoping the mixtape will be ready by April.
Hard Drive says he’s all about giving his best and music lovers can look out for some good conscious songs
from him.
