Owa Fest gets the support
The first staging of Owa Fest took place last Saturday at the Bowa Banks community off Windward Road in east Kingston. The event was organised to promote unity, peace and togetherness among residents of the community and adjoining areas.
Recording artiste Dutty Lion and his team were quite pleased with the day’s activities and the support received from the residents. “We are really happy about the turnout and the vibes that we had here. It was heart-warming to see children and adults from different neigbourhoods coming together to support one main goal which is to co-exist without violence and drama,” Dutty Lion explained.
Owa Fest kicked off with activities and treats for the children. By night-time the festivities included a stage show which featured performances from a number of top-flight and up-and-coming entertainers. Among those who performed were Determine, Nesbeth, Food Kartel, Eddie Fitzroy, Einstein, Natty King, Saba Tooth, Mr Banging, Shane O, Dutty Lion, Ghost, Tanto Blacks, Tidal Wave, DJ Steamas and Ricky Famous among others.

Chris Brown scores fourth number one R&B single
Despite the excitement over his Good Morning America drama earlier this week, Chris Brown continues to be a hit with his predominantly teenage female fan base.
His album F.A.M.E. was released on Tuesday and it is projected to sell between 250,000 to 300,000 copies in its first week of release. It is also on track to snag the number one spot on Billboard’s 200 album chart, giving Brown his first chart topper on that tally.
On Billboard’s R&B Hip Hop Singles & Tracks chart, Brown scores his fourth number one single as Look at Me Now featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes removes Moment 4 Life by Nicki Minaj and Drake from the top spot.
Brown’s previous number one R&B singles were Run It, Say Goodbye and Deuces.
