Cocktails with… Jodi Stewart

Reggae Entertainment Television (RETV) host, Head Babe of Bacchanal Babes, and salon assistant (Traci’s Salon).

What’s your role in Bacchanal?

I sort and review applications for Bacchanal Babes and keep the Babes up to date with Bacchanal events and costume information.

What do you love most about Carnival?

I get to wear a panty and bra on the streets of Kingston and no one looks at me like it’s odd or I’m a mad woman.

What are you sipping?

Wray and Nephew white rum with cranberry juice, and a ‘tuups’ of Red Bull for energy.

What kind of day are you having?

All of my days leading up to Carnival day are exciting… I can’t wait!!!

Socialite or homebody?

A bit of both.

Flats or stilettos?

Boots; I think they complete my costume and match much better than gym sneakers.

Dresses or jeans?

Dresses.

What’s your style?

Chic and sexy.

What scent are you spraying?

Aquolina Pink Sugar.

What’s in your bag on road march day?

I don’t carry anything that can’t get lost. In an old wristlet that complements my costume, I carry lipgloss, lash glue, extra crystals, Ziploc bag, Panadol, mirror, cash and of course, my Jamaican bandana.

Who does your hair?

Only the best — Traci Stewart.

Who does your nails?

Lisa at Klub Klippers.

Who does your Carnival make-up?

Me! I love doing my own make-up; I use different techniques — air brush and traditional.

Any tips for a first-time reveller?

Stay with a group and don’t run off alone. Remember, you’re only wearing a bra and panty! Wear comfortable shoes (even if it’s an ugly pair of gym sneakers), put some vex money in your shoe, and drink plenty of water!

When you’re not at work/school, where’s the best place to find you?

At my parents’ house chatting with my mummy.

What’s your idea of the perfect date?

No cellphones.

What’s your idea of the perfect man?

Someone who thinks the world of me, loves to spend time together, and makes me laugh.

What’s your latest obsession?

Internet shopping.

What’s on your iPod?

Soca, soca and more soca! Its great for cardio.

What projects are you currently working on?

The Bacchanal Babes, Princess of Persia costume.

Who or what inspires you?

My mum; she is so loving and sweet.

Who is your favourite soca artiste?

Destra — what a woman have energy!

What’s your favourite song for this season?

Advantage and Illegal by Machel Montano.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

As it pertains to Carnival… cut your toenails!

And 10 years from now?

I see myself as a marshall in Kiddie’s Carnival watching my kids enjoy road march as much as I do.
