Hide & Chic
Perched on the western arm of Low Cay Beach, and mere steps from the sea and fresh-water swimming pool, is GoldenEye's flippie-chic restaurant, Bizot Bar. It's named after Jean-Francois Bizot (1944-2007)- the French journalist, musical tastemaker and founder of the Paris-based world music radio station, Radio Nova. Bizot was, too, a friend of Blackwell, a GoldenEye habitué. This very spot was his favourite. (Photos courtesy of Island Outpost)

Hide & Chic

Style Observer

Under the radar and chic, if you must attach a label, might best describe life behind the nondescript gate of GoldenEye Hotel & Resort, but the voices of its occupants, ripe with the fruit of public school, speak to the hush-hush elegance and make it one of the island’s coolest hideaways. If you’ve not visited recently there’s regrettably reason for consternation — a lot’s been going on… ask the high-maintenance set who would, by the way, include Beyoncé and Jay-Z who spent the festive season there.

SO takes you inside the GoldenEye hotel and resort, an Island Outpost property owned by Chris Blackwell, and the one-time home of author Ian Fleming, where he penned all 14 James Bond novels. Following a two-year expansion, GoldenEye now encompasses Fleming’s original villa, the original three villas plus nine new Beach Cottages, two new Lagoon Cottages and six new Lagoon Suites. The 52-acre property is home to secret coves, breathtaking private beaches, tropical forests and a singular lagoon.

The Fleming Villa features the original three-bedroom home, plus two new cottages (one
poolside and the other overlooking the sea), a private swimming pool, media room and
bar, sunken garden and direct access to the private Fleming Beach. Fleming’s original
desk still stands today in his former villa.
The outdoor bathroom is situated right in the midst of lush foliage.
The lounge area of the Fleming villa features high ceilings and custom-designed furniture as well as an Ian Fleming library — GoldenEye was, after all, the Jamaican home of author Ian Fleming and the location where he penned all 14 James Bond novels.
The one and two-bedroom Beach and Lagoon cottages
have a total living area of 1,110 square feet and 1,711
square feet respectively and open directly onto the beach
or lagoon. The cottages feature a large porch, louvred
windows and double doors, which invite indoor and
outdoor living. (Photos courtesy of Island Outpost)
