If it were Manley or Shearer…
Dear Editor,
It is clear from the statements by both the Government and Opposition (Mia Mottley) in Barbados that no one believes that a simple Jamaican woman was mistreated by a Barbados Immigration officer, as she told the press.
It is this incredulity that irked Jamaicans in the 1960s when Grantley Adams came to Jamaica and shot off his mouth on retroactive taxation that killed the Federation.
I am afraid that as long as Jamaica is attempting to dampen the fires of other countries’ behaviour towards us, so long will we be brutalised and “finger-sexed” at borders.
Oh for a Michael Manley or a Hugh Shearer now!
